From graffiti artist to international art superstar, Basquiat rose to fame and burned out in the ’80’s, dead of a drug overdose at the age of 27. Although he is gone, his reputation is still meteoric. Recently in New York, Gagosian Gallery put on an exhibit of nearly 60 of his works that drew thousands, waiting in long lines, to view a visual panorama of his stunningly brief life and explosive energy.
